How quickly does damage usually happen to artifacts because of the climate? Are the changes more long term or immediate?

Were there big differences in how museums across different cities are impacted by climate, or are patterns similar across Europe? If they are different, what would be the main factors that make some areas more at risk than others?

Hello David,

Actually all these questions are the ones that we are trying to answer in our project. In eneral, oil paintings dry very very slowly, and during curing damage is reduced. Then once they are dried damage can appear quite fast.

Regarding your question related to the impact of climate change and the geographical location of museums I still need to gather more information and analyzed it to be able to answer.

Let me congratulate you for the pertinence of your questions 🙂
