I wonder if maybe solar or other renewable forms of energy are possible to use for indoor monitoring to preserve artifacts?  This way, maybe energy usage and cost won't be such a big worry in the preservation of artifacts? 

And, do you think indoor environment maintenance is a better strategy than the digitization or recreation of artifacts?  Is there any sadness in the digitization of artifacts because I personally would want to avoid this solution if possible.

Hello Cristine,

Certainly the impact of museums and of any other activity on environment will be lessen if the energy they use comes from green sources.

Regarding digitalization well it can be a good tool for instance for making art available to wider publics, but of course as you pointed out the original is always best 🙂
